History
Studio Mozart was established in 1991 by Kostadin Kamcev, the owner engineer, in Kavadarci, a small town in Macedonia. Initially, the studio operated in Kamcev’s residence, but it later relocated to an empty bomb shelter in the city, which offered ample space and sound insulation. This location proved to be more suitable for recording purposes and attracted numerous local and national artists.
Kamcev established partnerships with several record companies and festivals in Macedonia, further expanding the studio’s reach. In 1997, he relocated the studio to Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, where it was situated within a recording studio of the former National Television building. The studio’s meticulously tuned acoustic environment facilitated the recording of numerous hit songs.
By the end of 1999, Kamcev and his family obtained immigration visas to relocate to the United States. The United States presented greater opportunities in the music industry compared to Macedonia, and the imminent start of school for their children prompted their decision to move in March 2000.
Prior to their departure, all studio equipment was packed and shipped to the United States. Upon arrival, Kamcev faced new challenges, as he lacked connections in the music industry and only understood English written, not spoken.
Despite these obstacles, Kamcev secured employment at a local studio by mixing the owner and manager’s band. After two years of working in various studios, he established the United States version of Studio Mozart in 2004 in a three-car garage in Clifton, New Jersey. Despite its modest size of 450 square feet, the studio achieved remarkable success, recording a wide range of artists, including both local and renowned performers.
After 11 years of service at the Clifton Location, Studio Mozart relocated to a nearby facility in the current Little Falls Location. The Studio now occupies approximately 1900 square feet in a spacious setting with a 17-foot cathedral ceiling.
Studio Mozart provides a range of recording formats, including analog and high-resolution digital DSD multitrack formats. Mixing capabilities encompass stereo and immersive formats such as 5.1 and ATMOS.
